PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a large capacitance solid electrolytic capacitor which has superior impedance characteristics and whose conductive polymer layer can be formed easily, without experiencing troublesome treatments and processes accompanying electrolytic polymerization. SOLUTION: An anode foil 1 and a cathode foil 2, which are made of valve action metal and have dielectric oxide film layers on their surfaces, are wound with separators 3 therebetween to obtain a capacitor element 4. The capacitor element 4 is impregnated with an oxidizing agent solution and dried. Then, after the capacitor element 4 is impregnated with monomer solution of heterocyclic compound and heated and dried to form a conductive polymer layers, the capacitor element 4 is housed in a bottomed cylindrical metal case 7, and the aperture of the metal case 7 is sealed by a sealing material 6. By the easy manufacturing processes as are described, a large capacitance solid electrolyte capacitor having superior impedance characteristics can be obtained stably.
