PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the compression rate in no loss compression of a three- dimensional image signal. SOLUTION: A three-dimensional optimum adaptive encoding means 100 receives a three-dimensional digital image signal, and a pixel correlation evaluation means 101 calculates the evaluation of the correlation among prescribed respective pixels that can be referred to belonging to current referenced pixels and elapsed referenced pixels of a prediction object pixel. An optimum value calculation means 102 obtains a set of selected pixels or a proper optimum function maximizing the correlation between the pixels on the basis of the evaluation of the correlation to calculate an optimum value. An optimum adaptive encoding means 103 encodes the object pixel on the basis of the calculate optimum value to generate an encoded signal. An entropy encoding means 200 applies entropy encoding to the encoded signal to generate a three- dimensional no loss compression image signal.
