PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check device that checks whether or not a metaphorical expression represented by a user in a foreign language is correct. SOLUTION: This check device for a metaphorical expression in a foreign language is provided with an instance dictionary 25 in which a plurality of sets of metaphorical expressions in Japanese and a plurality of words in the foreign language forming the metaphorical expressions are registered, and decision displaying means 13 and 15 that decide the existence/absence of the plurality of words in the foreign language which are inputted by referring to the dictionary 25 and selectively display a metaphorical expression corresponding to the plurality of words in the inputted foreign language.
