PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color converter and a color conversion method that can flexibly revise conversion characteristics without the need for a large capacity memory by setting coefficients to independently correct 6 hues and areas among the hues. SOLUTION: Setting respectively coefficients relating to a quadratic multiplication term with respect to each hue as to a 3-color input signal, to a linear operand by comparison data and to a linear operand by comparison data concerned with areas the hues to desired values changes 6 hues of red, blue, green, yellow, cyan and magenta and only a noted hue in areas among the 6 hues to conduct color conversion with high accuracy without giving any effect onto other hues.
