PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts and assembly processes by omitting members to position electric elements. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a socket 1 to connect a mounted IC chip 6 with an outside circuit. On the apex 2b is provided a positioning surface 23b to position IC chip 6. There is a base 2 which is provided on the side 2c which an engagement hole 22 to engage a contact 4. The contact 4 is provided with an engagement section 40 which can engage with the engagement hole on the base 2. The contact 4 is secured to the base 2 by pressing the engagement section 40 into the engagement hole 22 from the side 2c of the base 2.
