PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, which is capable of broadcasting the contents according to characteristics such as residence areas and tastes of viewers to the viewers and whose setting for selecting is easy at both the transmitting side and receiving side. SOLUTION: A transmitter multiplexes a plurality of pieces of contents data and area codes correlated to each piece of the contents data into one kind of service, generates broadcast data and transmits them. A receiver converts postal codes inputted by the viewers into the area codes and stores them in an environment storage part 34. Furthermore, pieces of the contents data correlated to the area codes are selected and outputted to a video voice outputting means 50, on the basis of the area codes stored in the environment storage part 34 and the transmitted area codes. Therefore, broadcast with the paper contents according to the receiving area, etc., is selected and received automatically.
