PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat multi core optical cable capable of being easily wound around a suspension wire, minimizing the distortion which coated optical fibers receive after stringing when being stringed and accommodating numerous coated optical fibers. SOLUTION: At least one or more optical units 10 having an extruded plastic spacer 2, accommodating coated optical fiber ribbon 1 in a groove 2a formed inward from the periphery of the space 2 and subjected to a press winding 4 are horizontally lined up in a row, tension members 6 are arranged at both ends of the optical units, the unit assembly is covered with cushioning material 5 and the sheath 7 is formed into a flat shape.
