PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct color drift when a multicolor image is formed, by simple constitution. SOLUTION: Upon lowering a processing speed to 1/2-fold with respect to a normal picture mode in order to form an image to a thick paper on an OHP, a scanning line is inclined in a sub-scanning direction and a color drift quantity becomes larger (See Fig. 7 (B)) than the normal picture mode (See Fig. 7 (A)). In a high-quality picture and half speed mode, a processing speed is set to be 1/2-fold, apparent writing density (the number of scanning lines) in the sub- scanning direction is doubled (See Fig. 7 (C)) and a scanning line of a reduced color drift quantity is selected (See Fig. 7 (D)) concerning each color of Y, M, C and K. Thus, a color drift quantity when the image is formed to the thick paper or the OHP can be reduced by about 32% and a high-quality image can be obtained.
