摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface mount surge absorbing element which has stable discharge and small capacitance and does not require complicated manufacturing processes. SOLUTION: A surface mount surge absorbing element comprises a lamination body formed by insulating ceramic layers 2a, 2b, 2c and conductor layers 3a, 3b laminated one by one and outside electrodes 1a, 1b formed on both sides of the laminated body. The conductor layers 3a, 3b are formed in pair in the lamination body. Each of the conductor layers 3a, 3b comprises inside electrodes 4a, 4b and electrode takeoff sections 31a, 31b. The electrode takeoff sections 31a, 31b are separately connected with their respective outside electrodes 1a, 1b. The area between the inside electrodes 4a, 4b is hollow as a discharge space 5 and each of the inside electrodes 4a, 4b is shaped into a surface mount surge absorbing element which is a composition of one and more straight lines.
