PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate trouble that the lives of both a heat roller and a peeling pawl are shortened by friction between both of them if the time when the peeling pawl abuts on the heat roller is long, or the adhesion of toner to the peeling pawl progresses rapidly and peeling performance is lowered, whereby paper jamming is easily caused in a fixing device. SOLUTION: The peeling pawl 5' is attached so that it can rock centering around a rotary shaft 5'c, and further one end of the pawl 5' is connected to a solenoid 6, whereby the edge part 5'b of the pawl 5' is made to abut on/separate from the surface of the heat roller 2 by turning on/off the solenoid 6. A toner occupancy ratio detection part 12 detects the occupancy ratio of the toner in a specified area on the leading edge side of transfer paper in an original image data (in the case of a digital copying machine or the like) stored in an image memory 13. Only when the occupancy ratio of the toner exceeds a specified threshold, the solenoid 6 is turned on under the control of a control part 11, so that the pawl 5' is made to abut on the surface of the roller 2, then the leading edge of transfer paper P is peeled from the surface of the roller 2. Thus, a chance that the peeling pawl abuts on the heat roller is restrained to the absolute minimum and the lives of the heat roller and the peeling pawl are made longer than by the conventional technique. |
