PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and inexpensively provide a contact lens which permanently maintains the water wettability of a surface, is excellent in contamination resistance, is good in appearance and therefore has a safe and comfortable wearing feel by a simple method. SOLUTION: In forming a hydrophilic thin film on the surface of a contact lens base material made of a compound containing silicon or fluorine as a composition component, the lens is fixed to a supporting jig through the stage and is treated by using the supporting jig having a portion closing its aperture of <=1 mm in a radial direction with respect to the lens face and having the stricture greater in its overall size than the overall size of the lens.
