The invention relates to a hydraulic brake booster device for passenger vehicles which can be adapted for the handicapped using minimal means. The hydraulic brake booster device comprises a hydraulic booster, provided with a transmission piston which can be loaded with oil under pressure by means of a control slide valve. The control slide valve is displaceable by means of a brake actuating cylinder connected to the brake pedal. An actuating pin connected to the control slide valve is arranged so that it is displaceable in this cylinder. By reducing the ratio between the cross sections of the transmission cylinder and the actuating pin the return force acting on the actuating pin is adjustable to the force which can be exerted by the handicapped person. The brake device can still be operated normally by the non-handicapped and then delivers the normal return force.
