MECHANISM FOR CONTROL KNOB AND OTHER INTERFACE DEVICES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for other interface devices or a control knob which provides an additional degree of freedom of the knob. SOLUTION: One implementation example provides a rotary knob which is movable even in a lateral plane nearly perpendicular to the axis of rotation. A rotation sensor can detect a rotation position and a lateral sensor can detect the lateral position of the control knob 26. Another implementation example provides a driving device having a shaft nearly coaxial with the axis A of rotation. This driving device can be moved linearly along the axis A of rotation in relation with the housing of the driving device so as to correspond to the linear movement of the control knob 26. In another implementation example, an assembly of two combined gears is provided to transmit rotating operation from the knob to the sensor and the combined gears carry out transmission while relating each other when the control knob 26 is moved along the axis A of rotation.
