PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel efficiency of a hybrid vehicle which drives a generator to rotate to charge a battery, when it travels with an engine as a power source and obtain a sufficient driving force, when a driver requests the increase of the driving force by its controller. SOLUTION: When a battery is charged, an engine revolution Ne is changed from a driving point a to a driving point B, along a 1st engine driving line L1 in the case of attaching importance to a fuel efficiency to increase the output of an engine by an infinite velocity changer, and a velocity changing speed at the time of vehicle change is slower than in an ordinary case. When a driver requests increase of driving force, an engine torque is quickly increased by an output increasing means, whose responsiveness is better than that of a throttle valve and further, the infinite velocity changer is shifted down and the engine revolution Ne is increased along a 2nd engine driving line L2 in the case of attaching importance to a driving force. Furthermore, it is decided whether the energy conversion efficiency is higher than a predetermined value and, only when it is higher than the predetermined value, is the battery charged. |
