PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate restoration from a fault concerning a reception file in totaling processing. SOLUTION: When data are received from a periodical issuing machine 10 through a telephone line, a modem 9 and a FEP communication server 8, a CPU 1 generates the file of an extending element 'tmp' and writes reception data in the reception file directory of a main memory 3, displays 'during collection' in a display device 6, converts the extending element of a reception file into 'rcv' when data reception is completed, displays 'reception completion' in the display device 6, generates the data file of the extending element 'tmp' in the main memory 3 when data conversion is started, displays 'during conversion' in the device 6, executes a data conversion processing concerning reception file data to write conversion data, converts the extending element of the data file into 'dat' when data conversion is completed, converts the extending element of the converted reception file into 'zum' and displays 'conversion completion' in the device 6.
