PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable television camera detector that can automatically detect the presence of a television camera of a wireless transmission system or a self-recording system. SOLUTION: The television camera detector includes a radio wave receiver 1 that selectively receives a radio wave in a frequency range from 19 MHz to 770 MHz, a characteristic storage section 4 that stores a frequency specific to a television camera as characteristic frequency distribution information, a radio wave analysis section 2 that detects the presence of a television camera by comparing the frequency of a radio wave received by the radio wave receiver 1 with the characteristic frequency distribution information stored in the characteristic storage section 4 and discriminates whether the television camera adopts the wireless transmission system or the self-recording system on the basis of a history of a combination of channels of a television broadcast program stored in the reception storage section 3 and received by the radio wave receiver 1, and the reception storage section 3 stores the history of the combination of the channels of the television broadcast programs received by the radio wave receiver 1.
