PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct pseudo cross talk quantity by corresponding to a partial response equalization/maximum likelihood signal. SOLUTION: Gain adjusting circuits 35 and 36 receive a temporary discrimination value for a read signal of a main track from a temporary discriminant circuit 34 and variably controls a gain kn in accordance with the temporary discrimination value. Pseudo cross talk signals from transversal filters 25 and 26 are multiplied by kn times by the circuits 35 and 36, respectively supplied to subtracters 30 and 31 and subtracted from an output signal of a transversal filter 21 and from an output signal from the subtracter 30 respectively. Thus, a cross talk component in a reproduced signal of the main track to be reproduced which has undergone waveform equalization from the filter 21 is subjected to offset elimination from the subtracter 31, and also, a reproduced signal in which the overage and shortage of pseudo cross talk signal quantity corresponding to the reproduction position of the main track is corrected and which has undergone waveform equalization being excellent in an S/N is outputted.
