A simple and robust device for regular dosage and possible grinding of solid matter. The inventive device comprises a hopper with a dosing element (2) arranged at the base thereof, rotationally driven by a shaft (4) which can also drive blades or scrapers (8) which facilitate the removal of said product from inside the hopper. The unit can be controlled by a suspension pendulum (9) providing the product which is to be dosed and which is contained in the hopper (1) at any moment. An enclosure (11, 12) confines said device if necessary. The dosing rate depends upon the speed of rotation of the shaft (4). The inventive device is used to dose glass frits and calcination residues in vitrification processes.
