PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact-sized connector for a cable which is superior in operability for inserting a cable therein and can prevent an actuator from falling out. SOLUTION: In a connector for a cable in relation to the invention, a first contact 20 among two kinds of contacts is provided with a first engagement and support part 23 and a first contact part 21. A first cam part 41 of an actuator 40 comprises a first cam-pressing plane for pressing the rear side of a cable 50 and an engagement cam semicircular plane, which engages the first engagement and support part 23 of the first contact 20. Since the first contact 20 comprises a spring part 24, which can be deformed elastically, the first cam- pressing plane is forced in the direction of the depth of the cable 50 by the first engagement and support part 23. A second engagement support part 13 of a second contact 10 engages with an engagement cam part 44, and as a result, it is guided in the direction of the depth of the cable 50. In other words, the second engagement and support part 13 is engaged with the engagement cam part 44. As a result, the engagement cam part 44 prevents the second contact 10 from moving in the direction of the depth of the cable 50 by more than a fixed distance.
