The building block comprises top, bottom, front, rear and end surfaces where the front and rear surfaces (1,2) are planar, the top surface is ridged (3) and the bottom surface is channelled (4) to engage a top ridged surface of an adjacent block, also the ends surfaces are notched to allow adjacent blocks to overlap. The bottom surface channel may be shallower than the height of the top surface ridge in order to leave a gap between vertically stacked bricks. Independent claims are also included for a tie and a sill module for use with a block structure.
