The fabric a nonwoven fabric composed of microfilaments, in a material weight of 70-150 g/m<2>, with a particle retention of /-90% for particles of <= 0.5 mu m. The nonwoven fabric is formed from melt-spun multi-component continuous filaments, which are drawn and immediately laid into a nonwoven fabric. The filaments have a gauge of 1.5-5.0 dtex with a microfilament component of at least 80% with a gauge of 0.1-0.8 dtex, which are split and solidified.
