The inflow pipe (1) for fluid carbon dioxide and an expansion nozzle form a mixture of gaseous and solid CO2. A chamber (3) joined to the expansion nozzle has at least one, and preferably 6 to 8, impact surface(s) (7) for condensing the solid CO2. On a plane at right angles to the outflow direction of the CO2 from the expansion nozzle (2), the cross-sectional area of the impact surface amounts preferably to between 40 and 60 % of the cross-sectional surface of the chamber.
