The drive mechanism is for a moveable part (33), e.g. cutting tool or control rod, on a vertically moveable carriage (320) on a carriage holder (31). The carriage has a horizontal slide slot (326) and two vertical guide slots (329). Two vertical guide ribs (313) in the holder engage sliding into the guide slots. A drive shaft (353) turned by a drive (34) has an eccentric journal (351), which engages sliding into the horizontal slot in the carriage. The sliding movement oft the journal in the slot causes a movement of the carriage in the carriage holder. When the drive is actuated, the moveable part is moved along a straight track on a machine body.
