A control device is described for a vehicle drive train consisting of engine (20) and gearbox, especially auto gearbox (30), has a drive train control apparatus (10) and a gearbox control apparatus (31) located on or in the auto gearbox. The control apparatus contains electronic components with different high loss powers, especially end stages. Those electronic components that are used for the gearbox control and have a high loss power, are integrated into the gearbox control apparatus. The control device contains an engine control apparatus located on the engine which is connected with the drive train control apparatus. Those electronic components that are used for the engine control and have a high loss power, are integrated into the engine control apparatus.
