An indicating device has an indicating unit and a housing. The indicating unit is located in the housing and the indicating device can tilt. The indicating device (8) is located at least partially behind an opening (7) of a central console (9,19) of a vehicle, especially a car. The housing of the indicating device is connected to the opening of the central console in a flush fashion all around. The indicating device can be tilted about a rotational axis (53) that is located on the side of the housing facing away from the vehicle cabin. The rotational axis can be inclined.
