A system (10) for communicating with multiple devices (18) over a shared communication link (16) within a premises is disclosed. The system includes a host device (20) and a plurality of peripheral node interface circuits (22) couplable to the shared communication link (16). The host device (20) transmits and receives analog information over the shared communication link (16) using a plurality of first communication channels. Each peripheral node interface circuit (22) is associated with a particular first communication channel, and transmits analog information to the host device (20) over that first communication channel. A device may be coupled to each peripheral node interface circuit (22 for receiving analog information from the host device (20) through that peripheral node interface circuit (22), and for transmitting analog information to the host device (20) through that peripheral node interface circuit (22).
