A conveyor for distributing food products consisting of a distribution conveyor (100) and a recirculation conveyor (115) where the distribution conveyor (100) has a plurality of slide doors (105) leading to weighing hoppers underneath. A plurality of stopper gates (110), each located downstream of and adjacent to one of the slide doors (105) in the distributi on conveyor (100), momentarily holds the food products over the slide doors (10 5) thereby increasing the likelihood that the product will drop into a weighing hopper rather than recirculate, which helps prevent the food from cooling an d becoming stale before it is bagged. Sensing and timing devices, such as leve l sensors (390), are used to control the actuation of the stopper gates (110) for the most efficient operation.
