<p>An interface system includes separate optical (20) and mechanical interfaces (22) between opto-electronic devices (14) and fibers (10). This allows each of these components to be optimized for thir particular function. This also allows two surfaces to be provided for the optical interface (20), allowing the opto-electronic elements (14) to be spaced further apart than the fibers (10). The interface system can be integrated together, used in conjunction with a conventional fiber housing, and can be surface mounted with an electrical interface.</p> |
