A closure cap made of plastics material for closing a container mouth (30) consists essentially of a top plate (2) and a skirt (4) extending from the edge (3) of the top plate (2). The closure cap (1) is provided with a sealing lip (5), which has a root section (6) and a sealing section (7), between which a materiel weakening (8, 9, 8) is arranged. In an improvement, the sealing section (35) has an actuating part (39), which engages the container rim (33) during capping, and a sealing part (38) which contacts a sealing surface (32) on the container mouth (30) to form the seal.
