The combined analogue and digital transmission method has the analogue signal converted into 2 components of opposite phase and equal amplitude, supplied to respective lines (VL1,VL2) of a transmission line pair, with amplitude symmetrical division of the digital signal, with the digital signal components supplied to the transmission lines in phase with one another. The analogue signal is recovered by providing the difference of the combined signal components obtained from the transmission lines and the digital signal is recovered by providing the sum of the combined signal components.
