<p>A method and an apparatus for conveniently detecting at a high sensitivity an exogenous endocrine disrupting chemical (i.e., a so-called environmental hormone) whereby an exogenous endocrine disrupting chemical (an environmental hormone) occurring in the environment at an extremely low concentration can be conveniently detected at a high sensitivity. The apparatus consists of a detection container (1) packed with an immobilized female hormone receptor (for example, immobilized estrogen receptor) (2), a light source (3) for exciting the contents of the container, and a detector (4) for detecting the fluorescence intensity in the container after the excitation. In case of F1 < F0 (wherein F0 means the fluorescence intensity measured by introducing a fluorescent-labeled female hormone at a certain concentration into the detection container; and F1 means the fluorescence intensity measured by introducing a mixture of a test sample with a fluorescent-labeled female hormone at the same concentration into the detection container), the test sample is judged as containing an environmental hormone. A female hormone can be detected also by an antigen-antibody reaction with the use of an antihormone antibody against the female hormone.</p> |
