2-Heterocyclyl-lower alkyl-2-penem compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 is hydrogen or methyl, R2 denotes a hydroxyl group which may be protected, R3 is carboxyl or protected carboxyl R, R4 represents an unsaturated monocyclic heterocyclyl radical bound to a radical -(CH2)m- via a ring carbon atom and m is an integer from 1 to 4, salts of such compounds of the formula I having a salt-forming group, optical isomers of compounds of the formula I and mixtures of these optical isomers have antibiotic properties. The compounds are prepared by processes known per se. |
