PURPOSE: An FIR filter is provided to decrease it's size by adding 1-bit 2-input multiplexer instead of replacing 4-input multiplexers with 2-input multiplexers. CONSTITUTION: Before an input value of a filter and a value of a shift register are transmitted to a next shift register, the input value of the filter and the value of the shift register are successively selected by a multiplexer. Filter coefficients are successively selected by the multiplexer. The input value of the filter, the value of the shift register, and the filter coefficient are alternately multiplied, the multiplied values are added for generating a filter output.
