PURPOSE:To form a printing plate for lithographic printing which has high printing resistance, high quality and provides a sharp printed image by providing a hydrophilizable surface layer consisting essentially of the resultant product of reaction of a resin having an acid anhydride group and a crosslinking agent. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotographic sensitive layer (photoconductive layer) 2 is formed on a conductive base 1. A soln. contg. a resin having an acide anhydride group and a cross-linking agent is coated on the layer 2 and dried and is further subjected to a heating treatment to bring the resin having the acid anhydride group and the cross-linking agent into cross-linking reaction, thereby forming a surface layer (hydrophilizable layer) 3. The resin having the acid anhydride group is enumerated by a maleic anhydride copolymer. The cross- linking agent is enumerated by a polyisocyanate compd., polyhydroxy compd. and amine.
