<p>A UPS system for a communications network whereby a plurality of loads are fed from the same system which has an output inverter corresponding to each load. Primary Power is supplied from terminal 56 through a rectifier 58 to charge a battery 68 and supply power to a first bridge inverter 64 which is connected to a first input winding 72 of an isolation transformer 50. The battery 68 is connected to a second input winding 74 of the transformer 50 through a second bridge inverter 70. An output winding 76 of the transformer 50 is connected to a rectifier 80 to produce a DC output which is fed to a number of output inverters 82,84 etc. which are used to drive the plurality of loads which are connected to output terminal pairs 90,92 and 94, 96. In the event of failure of one of the output inverters the control circuit 390 can use primary switches 120,122 and secondary switch 124 to bypass this inverter and supply power to both loads from a single inverter thereby giving the system redundancy.</p> |
