PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel in which a rotor can be maintained in a state capable of being freely rotated by the operation of a brake lever so that the freely rotatable state can easily be maintained. SOLUTION: The lever brake mechanism 6 of a spinning reel is provided with a brake portion 20, a brake lever 21 and a lever-holding mechanism 22. The brake portion 20 brakes the reverse rotation of the rotor 3. The brake lever 21 is attached to the body 2 of the reel in a state capable of being swung in the direction contacting with or separating from a attaching portion 2c, and is brought into contact with the brake portion 20 at the first position and at the second position facing the first position through the rotation axis of the rotor 3. The braking force of the brake portion can be adjusted, even when the braking lever 21 is moved in either of the directions contacting with and separating from the attaching portion 2c. A lever position-holding mechanism 22 holds the brake lever 21 at a brake-canceling position and at a prescribed brake position separated from the attaching portion 2c.
