PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus having a scorching removing function or means capable of effectively removing the scorching generated on the contact surface of ink of the heat generating part of a head while enhancing the life of the head, and a recording method using the same. SOLUTION: As the upper protective layer of an ink jet head, a film of an amorphous alloy represented by compositional formula (I): TaαFeβNiγCrδ(wherein 10 atomic %<=α<=30 atomic %,α+βis less than 80 atomic %,βis larger thanα,δis larger thanγandα+β+γ+δis 100 atomic %) is used and a defoaming agent is added to the ink supplied to the ink jet head or a multi- pulse wherein a pulse for removing scorching is compounded with a drive pulse applied to the heating elements of the ink jet head is used.
