PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating molten fly ash by which the volume of generated fly ash is reduced and the degree of conversion of the fly ash to slag is upgraded. SOLUTION: Waste (a) is thermally decomposed and gasified 2 and the obtained combustible gas and char (d) are burned at high temperature in a melting furnace 3 located at the succeeding stage of a treatment setup. At the same time, at an installation for converting fly ash to molten slag (g), molten fly ash (i) is captured 6 from an exhaust gas (h) of the melting furnace 3. Then the captured molten fly ash (i) is solidified and made bulky 7 and the bulky fly ash (i) is supplied to the melting furnace 3. Solidifying and making bulky the molten fly ash (i) can be performed by a high pressure press, a compression-molding machine or the like.
