PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body of a reel having bearings on the both sides, not giving an uncomfortable feeling when the body is gripped, and eliminating the possibility of conducting release operation caused by an operational error. SOLUTION: This body 1 of the reel having bearings on the both sides is equipped with a handle 2 on one of the both sides and a spool 12 in the inner space, wherein the body is further equipped with a reel frame 5, a spool support 13, an operating projection 16, a first side cover 6, and a second side cover 7. The reel frame has a pair of side plates 8, 9, wherein one of the both side plates has a circular opening 8a so that the spool positioned at a proper distance from the reel frame can pass through the opening. The spool support is attached to the side plate 8 having the opening so that the support is freely released to uncover the opening, and further supports one of shaft ends of the spool so that the shaft is freely rotated. The operating projection is positioned on the spool support so that the projection operates to release the spool support from the opening. The first side cover covers the outside of the side plate including the spool support and the operating projection so as to be freely opened and closed.
