PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printing apparatus for a packaging machine wherein a stamping operation unit is shifted to the lower area of a main-body case and a printing position can be shifted downward by the displacement of the unit when removable engaging means are disengaged and the main-body case is rotated angularly at 180 degrees by a horizontal shaft, since the stamping operation unit is provided in the upper area inside the main-body case, and wherein extension of the height of a lifter can be eliminated, since the printing position is shifted irrespective of the movement of the lifter in this case. SOLUTION: This printing apparatus for a packaging machine is composed of a main-body case 11 on a frame 10 supported by a lifter 21 and of a backing plate 13 supported by a push-out unit 12 fixed to the frame, opposite to the main-body case, and the apparatus is equipped with a stamping operation unit 30 which stamps a packaging material in the upper area inside the main-body case, the backing plate 13 being used as a support, and with a take-up reel 35 and a rewinding reel 36 for an ink ribbon 37 supplying ink to the packaging material. Both of the upper and lower sides of the main-body case are provided with holes 40 and 41 and bolts and nuts 42 being removable engaging means.
