PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner or a central cleaner with a simple structure and reduced number of signal wires for feeding electricity from a main body circuit part to a hand circuit part and transmitting signals from the main body circuit part to the hand circuit part. SOLUTION: A main body circuit part 8 and a hand circuit part 15 of this cleaner are connected with plural wires 16. Commercial power supply voltage is outputted from the main body circuit part 8 to the hand circuit part 15 by way of the wires 16 and the voltage outputted to the wires 16 is on/off- controlled according to data of the main body. The hand circuit part 15 detects and outputs data from the voltage condition or voltage value relative to the time axis of the on/off of the voltage outputted to the wires 16. Therefore, feeding of electricity and transmission/receiving of signals can be achieved by way of the wires 16 inside a hose 9, and by minimizing the number of the wires 16 in the hose 9, the hose can be made lighter and more flexible and can be operated more easily.
