PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: On Mandrillus leucophaeus immunodeficient viruses, to obtain a nucleic acid and a protein in the virus and provide a method of utilizing the nucleic acid and the protein for diagnostic purpose. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the Mandrillus leucophaeus immunodeficient viruses, their RNA, correspondent cDNAs, proteins derived from them and fragments of these nucleic acids or proteins. In addition, this invention relates to the use and diagnostic for applying the above nucleic acids and proteins or their fragments for diagnostic purpose.
