PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head having a protective layer solving various problems related to a protective layer having a part coming into contact with ink for a conventional ink jet head, excellent in impact resistance, heat resistance, ink resistance and oxidation resistance and enabling high durability. SOLUTION: The upper protective layer provided to at least the heat acting part to the ink on the heating resistors of an ink jet head is formed from an amorphous alloy having a compositional formula (I) represented by TaαFeβNiγCrδ(whereinαis 10<=α<=30 atomic %,α+βis more than 80 atomic %,βis larger thanα,δis larger thanγandα+β+γ+δis 100 atomic %) and the contact surface with ink of the amorphous alloy contains oxide being the constituent of the ink.
