PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystalline polyester resin composition which is excellent in heat resistance and has a reduced anisotropy in strengths, modulus, and low linear thermal expansion properties and to provide molded items, such as films and sheets, made therefrom. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a liquid crystalline polyester resin (I) having carboxyl groups at the molecular ends and prepared from compounds selected from among specific dihydroxyl compounds, specific dicarboxylic acids, specific hydroxy acids, and specific aminoalcohols and a polyester resin (II) having a specific substituted amine or heterocyclic backbones in the molecular backbone; or the composition comprises a liquid crystalline polyester resin (III) having specific substituted amines or heterocyclic backbones at the molecular ends and prepared from compounds selected from among specific dihydroxyl compounds, specific dicarboxylic acids, specific hydroxy acids, and specific aminoalcohols and a polyester resin (IV) having carboxyl groups in the molecular backbone.
