PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of economically producing a uniform polyolefin high in molecular weight and narrow in distributions of molecular weight and composition. SOLUTION: This method uses an olefin polymerization catalyst composed of a transition metal compound shown by the formula (1) M1AaBbXc (M1 is a Group 8, 9, 10 or 11 transition metal; A is an anionic ligand; B is a cycloalkadienyl derivative; and X is H, a halogen, hydrocarbon, hydrocarbon containing heteroatom, substituted amino or substituted alkoxy, wherein each X may be the same as or different from another X).
