<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rosin-modified phenol resin exhibiting a sufficiently high solubility in a nonaromatic hydrocarbon-based solvent, and capable of providing a highly elastic gel varnish suitable for high-speed printing, and further to provide a method for producing the resin, and a binder for a printing ink by using the resin. SOLUTION: This rosin-modified phenol resin is obtained by reacting (a) rosins, (b) a resol-type phenol resin, (c) alkylphenols and (d) polyols.</p> |
