PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image receiving sheet for thermal transfer which is excellent in image quality and conveyance properties and gives a good image without a blank by minute refuse and an imaging method. SOLUTION: A cushioning layer of 107-108 dyne/cm2 tensile modulus of elasticity and an image receiving layer are formed in turn on one side of a void- containing plastic support, and the surface roughness Ra of the other side of the support is 0.04-0.06 μm. The support is preferably a laminate comprising a void-containing polyester layer and inorganic pigment-containing polyester layer, and titanium oxide is preferably used as the inorganic pigment.
