PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and high-precision method for determining a low-density lipoprotein(LDL) cholesterol by solving a controversial point of an enzyme method requiring many reagents and additives conventionally and to obtain a reagent for determination. SOLUTION: 1. This method for determining a LDL cholesterol in a sample comprises a first process for adding cholesterol oxidase selectively acting on liberated cholesterol in LDL to a sample and forming oxygen peroxide from the liberated cholesterol in LDL and a second process for measuring hydrogen peroxide formed by the first process. 2. The cholesterol oxidase is derived from a bacterium belonging to the genus Corynebacterium in the determination. 3. This reagent for determining the LDL cholesterol is a reagent for the method for the determination and contains the cholesterol oxidase selectively acting on the liberated cholesterol in the LDL. 4. The reagent for the determination contains a peroxidase and a color reagent.
