PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject highly simple safety device intended for obviating such an accident as a direct hit against the legs or face of a worker with pebbles and/or soil lumps spattered by cutting blades. SOLUTION: This safety device is intended for obviating the above-mentioned accidents or cut weed entanglement by closing triangular gaps existing between a drive pipe 1 and a cutting blade 3 surface merely in such a way that a flat plate such as plastic or iron plate is bent into spoon-fashion, set in near contact with a cutting blade surface and attached to the drive pipe 1 or a gear case 2; thereby, pebbles and/or soil lumps hit the device but never directly hit a worker as they fall in front of him or spring up over him, leading to improvement in work safety and operating efficiency; furthermore, the above-mentioned plate is easy to attach/detach.
