PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester causing little staining of a treating tank and pipe in the water-treatment of polyester chips and giving a molded bottle having good transparency and crystallization of the bottle mouth while suppressing the generation of the contamination of the mold in molding. SOLUTION: The polyester is produced by treating polyester chips with water in a treating tank. The water-treatment is carried out by introducing water containing particles of 1-25μm diameter at a concentration of 1-10 particles/10 cc into the treating system from an outer source.
